Brake Calipers :)

Powdercoating! Nice!

Hey guys, I'm sure you could but, well...could you do calipers, if so, approx how much? I'm not near ready for it yet, which sounds like that is fine because it seems like you guys have your hands full at the moment but I would like to know so that I don't go buying some duplicolor caliper paint, especially because powdercoating looks 84964856136 times better. Would you require me to disassemble them before dropping them off? How long would you estimate it'd take to finish the job? And lastly, where are you guys located? :)

Thanks in advance!

Im pretty sure you can. I was going to give my calipers away to Jeff so he can try some experiments. But it just never happened. Youd probly need to buy new seals, cause theyre rubber and when you powdercoat parts you put them in the oven.

Yea, I'm assuming I'd have to disassemble them and get new seal kits which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They'd be like new calipers :) Haven't been done for a long time iirc. Not sure if the previous owner ever touched them so it'll be worth it

Yes we can, I would need them completely disassembled. What color are you thinking? Basic colors are best becuase they have a higher heat tollerance. Exotic or candies don't like the heat as much and can discolor under harsh conditions. Are your callipers painted or bare metal? Mitsu or Dodge? VR4 or NA? Would you want writing on them?

We are in Barstow. It will take me about a week. If they are clean I am thinking about 20 per calliper more if you want a candy color or any kind of writing on them.

Awesome. I was checking out the Metallic Dark Red, would that be considered 'exotic'? Disassembly is not problem at all. They are bare metal right now, for my 92 Stealth TT. As for writing, any examples as to how that would end up looking?

Decal stenciling looks like this. All you need to do is provide me with the decal, just a single color vinyl decal and the colors you want me to coat it. It looks like this

Dark metallic red is not an exotic however i can't get anymore it isn't being produced any longer. I have about a pound of it which should be enough for 4 calipers. But I won't be able to match it. I can get ruby red metallic which is really close and is still in production. The lettering color can be what ever you want except chrome. Chrome won't take the heat.

Beautiful. I don't necessarily need the dark red, just something darker color red, not the first red in your color post, it's slightly too orange. I am thinking just the word STEALTH in stealth font. Would you need for me to bring a stencil or could you work something up because it's a common font for us 3s owners? Also, is it okay to drop them off to your location in barstow? It's not too far of a drive. Might just have to do this if I get enough time in between semesters :)

I can get the decal. You are more than welcome to drop them off I powder coat at my house will give you directions when the time comes. I will start looking for a dark red how about a wrinkle red? Might look really nice. I am guessing you would want the writing in white then.

White writing for my white car :) That'd be perfect. As for the red, I like the fire engine red but would love something a little darker. Maybe when the time comes a little closer, we could see if you still had enough of that dark red metallic left. Do you think you'd run out and because you couldn't color match it might mess everything up? And as for the wrinkle, I'm not looking for the texture that comes with it but very cool idea.

I should have enough metallic red when you are ready. My only worry is that you will want more powder coated to match and I won't have enough for the second job.

Say 30 for the front 2 and 20 for rears. as long as you bring them fully dissembled with writing on the front two and the rear two solid red. give me about a week lead in time to order any powder or supplies you need. ok.

That sounds fantastic man. I'll check on how much downtime I'll have in between semesters...maybe I can carpool with the gf for the beginning of the semester even. Would love to have this done :) And great point on the color matching, don't think I will be needing anything to match them but will definitely take a closer look at the color list.

Check out other colors at that site if you find one you like I will order some. If it is a transparent candy or Dormant I wouldn't sugest it for brake calipers anything els would be fine though

Ah, thanks for the heads up on the transparent color. I saw one that I liked and was about to inquire about it. You read my mind.
