oil cap leaks

Postby skcyclist on Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:06 am

Hi all, I haven't logged in for quite a spell. Sill have my sweet 94 RT Stealth. Am looking for an oil cap that won't leak. Suspect all it needs is a new gasket, but unable to find one. Hope y'all are doing well. Steve

have you replaced the oil cap once and it still leaks? Kinda what it sounded like by your post....if that's the case it's probably from pressure building. PCV should be inspected ...most of the leaks in the valve cover, oil filler, and sometimes popping out of the dipstick are caused by that.

You can "double gasket" it and "tighten" the metal plates so that it closes tighter when screwed on.

Just go to 3sx.com and type oil cap in the search, you'll find it.

If 3sx managed to screw up an oil cap there's little hope in this world....

I think so I'd have to find them, I know they sell the oil caps that are meant for high heat motors.

I bought one of their anodized aluminum oil caps and it didn't seem to last more than a month if that. I always assumed our cars were doomed to leak oil there. I don't know if it's the oil cap itself, the seal, or what. I mean unless there is a seal replacement at a schedule maintenance interval that I don't know about. *goes to look in his manual*
There are good cars that get you from point A to point B.
And then there are great cars that can get you into trouble.

yep mine too 194,000+ miles and still no leak from the oil cap. Mine is a 91 but I check my PCV valve even though I don't smog it anymore.
